What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
  • A recent digital passport-style photo
  • Proof of accommodation or a local contact/sponsor
  • Return or onward travel ticket
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission

Visa types

  • e-Tourist visa: single entry, typically 30 days validity from issuance
  • e-Business visa: single entry, similar validity, requires a letter from the inviting Somali organization
  • Extensions of either type are handled in-country by the Immigration Department in Mogadishu

How to apply online

  • Apply through the Federal Government of Somalia's official e-visa portal
  • Upload your passport bio page and photo, and complete the application form
  • Pay the fee online, approximately USD 60
  • Approval is typically emailed within 2-5 business days as a PDF to print and present at check-in and on arrival
  • A visa on arrival is sometimes available as a backup at Aden Adde International Airport, but the e-visa is the recommended route
